There are some GREAT and thorough reviews on here, so I won't try to duplicate any of that. I think the taste is FINE; adding cinnamon and/or vanilla helps even more. My favorite is adding a heaping TB of unsweetened cocoa and two droppers of stevia. Just like a real chocolate shake.Looking at the ingredients you wouldn't guess that it's a magical concoction, but it's not your average meal replacement / protein drink. In my dieting travels I have figured out that trying to cut back on food quantity and type is very hard for me to maintain for long. Food makes me want more food and eating a ton of vegetables just doesn't satisfy anything. So, fasting with Almased is actually easier for me. Hunger, when you're on a liquid diet, just seems like a different kind of hunger. You KNOW there's no food coming so you drink more water or broth.Adding fiber to the shake is a good thing. I had noticed that Almased has almost no fiber, and I wondered about that. Fiber supplements are expensive, but fiber is important for feeling fuller and it helps with regularity on a restrictive diet.I use the 6 TB portion, which is a slightly rounded 1/3 cup measure (so much easier that way). So, I get four days out of a can -- only $7 a day. CHEAPER THAN THE COST OF FOOD! Good to keep in mind for those who said it's so expensive. If you get headaches, drink more fluids and enjoy that you're getting rid of toxins. It will pass.***Edit 10/8/15 -- I'm almost two months in now. I lost 10 pounds during the liquid fasting days (only did that for 10 days, not 14). Weight loss has definitely slowed since adding in one meal. Disappointing, but I've learned better how to do this long term. First, for my one meal I eat what I want. Moderation on fats and portions (except veggies) is still important. But if slow and steady wins the race, that's better than crapping out by suffering through a sprint that you can't maintain.#2 -- I make the vegetable broth as they recommend. It's not so tasty or satisfying. I tried adding about 25% V8 low sodium vegetable juice to my cup of broth and it made a huge difference. Tastes good -- almost like tomato soup. BIG find for me.#3 -- Again, this stuff is cheaper than food! So, why not stay on it for as long as possible? No reason to think you have to lose as much weight as possible in a couple of months because of cost. Other diet plans (Nutri..., Weightwatchers, Atkins and the like) ALL get expensive after a while because of paying THEM and buying (sometimes) specialty foods. I did low carb for a long time (any restrictive diet gets tiresome at some point) and I loved that I could eat all the bacon and eggs I wanted. But ultimately, I stopped losing weight. I have tried everything! THIS is working for me and I can see my way to long term results.
